Today's Japanese is written with a mixture of hiragana and katakana, in addition to kanji (Chinese characters). Romaji is the standard way of transliterating Japanese into the Latin alphabet. H&H Japan2Go Talking Phrase Book allows you to switch between Kanji and Hiragana/Katakana, and see the Romaji for every phrase. To switch between Kanji and Hiragana/Katakana, click the orange button located near the bottom of the phrase view page. Note that some phrases do not contain Kanji. The Romaji is displayed between the phrase list and the Japanese translation.
