Full Vista Support Coming to the Palm Desktop... Eventually |

Vista, Microsoft's latest operating system for desktop and laptop computers, has been available for months. Despite this, the current version of the Palm Desktop does not fully support it.
While this application will install and can synchronize PIM data on Vista PCs, Quick Install (the desktop application that allows users to move files like .PRC and .PDB to a device) is not currently compatible.
However, Palm is working to fix this problem, albeit somewhat slowly.
David Sloan, one of Palm's product managers, wrote on The Official Palm Blog today, "I wanted to let everyone know that we are working on a beta release of the new Windows Vista-compatible Palm Desktop and HotSync Manager software - time frame for the release is this summer."
Sloan did not make it clear if the plan is to release the full version of this software this summer or only the beta version.
Third-Party Option
Those who don't want to wait can try PalmVista Simple Installer, an application that performs the same tasks as Palm's Quick Install, but offers support for Windows Vista.
A public beta is available as freeware. Naturally, it requires the Palm Desktop to be installed on the same PC in order to function.
