From reinvented suitcases to wired fashion to hotels of the future, the call for submissions is geared toward the theme of mobility.

"The innovative design of Palm Treo(TM) smartphones and Palm handhelds has made us a market leader for more than 10 years," says Michael Moskowitz, president, Americas International, Palm Inc. "Palm believes that supporting creativity and local talent through initiatives like the Palm enRoute Awards in Mobility Design is imperative for the growth and recognition of the industrial-design industry."

Prizes include $5,000 in cash; a trip to San Francisco, Calif., including return flight and three nights accommodation; a meeting with the Palm design team; registration for the ICSID (International Council of Societies of Industrial Design) conference; and three Palm Treo smartphones with GPS Navigator Kit.

"People are always looking for ways to make travel easier. Our goal is to exceed their expectations and, at the same time, promote cutting-edge design that displays the talent and initiative of our designers," explains Arjun Basu, enRoute's editor in chief.
