Array Networks announced that its SPX Series Secure Sockets Layer virtual private network (VPN) supports Layer 3 VPN for Windows Mobile devices. The secure VPN will support Windows Mobile versions 5 and 6, as well as Palm Treo, Motorola Q and Hewlett Packard iPaq.

Array offers rich Layer 3 through Layer 7 access from a standard browser. Its Layer 3 VPN provides three to 10 times more throughput than competing SSL VPN and IPSec products, according to the company.

Layer 3 VPN for Windows Mobile is particularly important for enterprises that wish to standardize on commercially available mobile devices," said Sunil Cherian, vice president of product marketing for Array Networks. "This latest capability rounds Array's industry-leading Layer 3 SSL VPN solution, which features support for Windows Vista and IE7 [Internet Explorer version 7], without the need for pre-installed client software."
